Truth or Dare Tuesday

Our sense of worth is partly dependent on how well we were loved and nurtured in infancy, but is no less dependent on the situation we find ourselves in and the messages our culture delivers about value.  A child can receive the most perfect nurturing, the most sensitively attuned and timed feeding, yet if the mother’s milk is radioactive, that child’s body will get the message: Die!  When we grow up in a culture that assaults us continuously and threatens the annhilation of life, we can at best hope to grow up confused, suspecting we might be worth something even though the evidence of our senses tells us we are not.
