Friday Craft, Revenge of Craft

A prime example of too much of a good thing. Now that I’m aware of just how much good useable stuff that we throw away, I am compelled to keep it all. But, alas, we do not live in a mansion with my very own wing for crafting and craft storage.

In Portland, there is an amazing agency named SCRAP. Their mission:

…to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community.

I know, right? They accept donations to use during their affordable art/craft classes, and also to sell in their shop. A crafty cave of upcycle-able treasures including keyboard letters, floppy disks, all manner of paper, old magazines, envelopes, paint, and on and on.

Their website even has a tutorials, called Reuse Resources, including this floppy disk desk organizer.

SCRAP’s site has so many resources for upcycling art. Tutorials, teaching art on the cheap blog, workshops and classes, birthday parties, school field trips, etc.

I am so thankful to have an organization like this near my town.
