Friday Craft, Handmade Book Episode One

This book is made from a printable journal kit purchased at Ephemra’s Vintage Garden. This one is called Steampunk Spring. She has several, and they’re all filled with vibrant images and beautiful colors. Each kit comes with covers, pages, and ephemera (tags, envelopes, pockets, etc.) and are on sale right now!!

She also regularly posts Freebies that match her kits. And you can find her channel on You Tube filled with ideas and instructions on how to utilize her digital downloads.

For this book I used signature binding, sewn into the inner cover provided in the kit. This kit included 12 pages, which I used to make 6 signatures mixed with cardstock in different colors and sizes. Each signature has 4 pages folded in half. I used Tea Dye Distress Ink to edge the pages, which I like a lot better then the Faded Jeans from my last book. Then I used the ephemera to make tuck spots, focal points, and pockets throughout the book. There’s even a belly band (see the lower right corner picture).

I have now fallen into a new rabbit hole. There are so many digital printable journal kits available online. I have purchased… several. Stay tuned for 3 more from Ephemera’s Vintage Garden, and a few more after that.

It’s interesting to see what other people are doing with their journals. They’re like artworks in themselves.
