The Makes Family tripped to Seattle this summer and nerded out at the lovely museums under the Space Needle.
I’ve already posted about the amazing Museum of Pop Culture and the Jim Henson exhibit.
We spent the first several of our hours in Seattle at this museum, indulging in all our nerdy passions. Starting with an exhibit about Seattle’s own Jimi Hendrix, and an exhibit about the legendary David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust period, then into their Indie Gaming room filled with the strangest collection of games.
After the Jim Henson exhibit we strolled through Star Trek history for a bit, then headed downstairs into the SciFi section, with costumes and set pieces from everything, from Dune to Battlestar Galactica (old and new) to Alien to Doctor Who (exterminate). Then we entered the Horror exhibit with more paraphenalia, including Mr. Pointy!!!
Finally we hit up the Fantasy room, (best for last) where they had costumes from The Princess Bride, The Holy Grail, interactive displays about the Tarot archtypes, Building Maps, we could have stayed here all day.
We finished our first day with an excellent dinner at Ten Sushi, an incredible experience and meal. Highly recommended.
In Part 2 I’ll gush about our experience at the Pacific Science Center.
