Friday Craft, Art Journal Canvas
I created this canvas using techniques from my art journal life. First I smooshed paint around, blue, purple, and white. Enough to cover the canvas. Then I added the purple lotus in the bottom left corner using a stencil. Another stencil made the leaves, which I layered with different tones of green to give an illusion of depth. Then I added the little hexagons in the bottom right corner.
A fun and pretty simple project using paint, stencils, and my finger.

Another spread using Dylusions paints. I also use a bunch of stencils, some modeling paste, a stamp with letters and numbers, and a toilet paper roll for circles.
I got a package of Tim Holtz stickers with these phrases on sale, and it’s been a great addition to my art journal arsenal. This one says, “be open to whatever comes next”.

This spread uses Dylusions paints, which dry to a lovely smooth finish with bright colors.
I added layers of stamps and stencils…

One of the fun parts of art journaling is the journey from start to finish. This spread started it’s life very differently than the finished project.
After I stenciled in the yellow flowers, I knew I didn’t like the direction this was taking. When in doubt, add blue!

This week’s art journal page is pretty simple. A long time ago I had covered these pages with pattern pieces (bust that stash!) and then I covered the pages with acrylic paint, the limited palette I’m using for Art Journal Summer School.
Then I made circles with white paint, and once they were dry took gelatos to make very simple flowers.

I gifted my art partner and myself with Art Journal Summer School through Bloknote Academy. A 10 week course, 2 lessons per week. Intended to be portable and taken with you during summer travels, the supply list is long but can be simplified.
This is the second lesson from week one, simple doodled blooms with watercolor. Another loosening up exercise. The lesson leader uses fluid acrylics, which I don’t have and will not purchase so I used my watercolors. I have very very inexpensive student grade watercolors, so my final product isn’t as nice as I would like, but it was a fun process to get here and I learned a bunch.
I love collecting art supplies so I am on a self-imposed hold, no more art supplies until I finish much of what I already have. Bust that stash!
